04.12.2022 // By: College CoD

Intro

At long last we are finally able to reveal more details about the CCL 2022 Post-Season for both Main and Academy! We’ve been forced to make some minor changes to the format and schedule due to scheduling conflicts with CDL, so we’ve broken down everything you need to know below. If there is anything your team is concerned about please reach out ASAP. We will do our best to support teams throughout this new format! Below is a brief summary of all the LCQ and Playoffs scheduling. More in depth schedule details can be found in the corresponding article section.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Academy 2022 Playoffs

Who:

Top 4 from each Sub-Region

When:

*Note: May 16th and May 23rd matches MAY NOT be rescheduled as these matches must be played back to back.

What:

16-team Double Elimination Bracket

Why:

We’ve attempted to spread out the Playoffs matches, so that they can still take place without interrupting school finals. Our main goal is a maximum of 2 matches per week until after most finals have passed. The Winners, Losers, and Grand Finals will have a stand-alone broadcast to showcase the best Academy has to offer.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Main Last Chance Qualifiers

Due to our unique format. all of LCQ will be taking place on Toornament, and we’ll return to the eFuse platform for bracket play in Playoffs! The LCQ brackets will be released as soon as all Regular Season matches are submitted on eFuse. Please make sure to submit matches ASAP. All Regular Season must be completed by Friday, April 15th at the latest. Matches that have not been played and do not have an agreed upon scheduled time will have a league-enforced new match time on Friday, April 15th.

Who:

When:

Note: LCQ matches MAY NOT be rescheduled because Round 1 and 2 are back to back on the same day, and Round 3 is back to back with Regional Playoffs. Extreme circumstances may be sent to an admin for approval to select a new time to play if deemed necessary.

What:

The CCL 2022 LCQ will put 128 teams at odds in a gauntlet style play-in for the final 32 spots in the CCL 2022 West and East Playoffs. The LCQ begins with randomly drawn groups from 4 distinct pods: Bottom four from Tier 1 and top four Tier 2, bottom eight from Tier 2, top eight from Tier 3, and bottom four from Tier 3 and top four from Tier 4.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Main 2022 Regional Playoffs

As announced at the start of the year, the CCL 2022 Playoffs are split into West and East Playoffs. The West will be composed of West/Midwest Teams and the East composed of Northeast/Southeast. Each playoff will fight for 4 spots at the first 8-team CCL Championship LAN.

However, the road to the CCL Championships will be different than the past. Instead of a giant 64 team double-elim bracket, Regional Playoffs is split into 2 phases. West and East will both have their own separate 32 team group stage with groups of 4. Each group of 4 will have two teams that Automatically Qualified from Regular Season and two teams that qualified through LCQ. The top two teams from each group of 4 will continue on to their region’s 16 team double-elimination brackets.

Two teams from each group will advance to finals where we will determine the 4 teams representing the East and the 4 teams representing the West at the CCL Championships. Groups will be drawn with two AQ teams and two LCQ teams in each group of opposite sub-regions (West/Midwest and Southeast/Northeast). LCQ teams will need to play their Group Round 1 match before May 11th(East) or May 18th(West).

An example of a single group would be:

Who:

West Playoffs:

East Playoffs:

When:

Note: Bracket matches MAY NOT be rescheduled because those matches are played back-to-back on the same day. Groups matches MAY be rescheduled following the standard rescheduling rules.

Score Reporting

The LCQ matches and Group Stage of Playoffs that are played using Challonge will be reported via regional Discord channels that Points-of-Contact will be added to. The Bracket Stage of Playoffs and LAN Playoffs will be reported on the eFuse platform.

LAN Updates

We're not quite done getting the venue, schedule, and more finalized and approved, so we don't have any major updates yet on this. We're currently hoping to host the LAN in eFuse's hometown of Columbus, OH in early June. Details are still in the works and we will get them to you soon!
