01.15.2020 // By: Trevor Ivey

The College Call of Duty League had their first tournament of 2020 Sunday that saw some great competition between the thirty teams that signed up and teased what we’ll be seeing in the regular season starting January 20th Round One Match: Liberty University Navy vs. Full Sail University The first match we saw was between Liberty Navy with the roster of Fish, Viney, Ash, GRUNK, and MaizenBlue, and Full Sail Armada with the roster of Veillux, Pryzaam, PhoenixNacip, and Fluffy Is God. The match started game one hardpoint on Hackney Yard and was a hard fought game from both sides, but Full Sail took an early lead by controlling the first two hills to take a 75-6 lead and never letting Liberty Navy take the lead from them and it gave Full Sail the 1-0 series advantage heading into game two, which was search and destroy on Arklov Peak. Liberty Navy took the first three rounds to go up 3-0 but then Full Sail fought back taking the next three rounds to tie the game 3-3. Both teams then won another two rounds to force a game deciding round eleven, where Fluffy Is God had a great flank to take out two Liberty Navy players before being traded to give Full Sail the 4v3 advantage but Liberty Navy was able to win the round and the game to tie the series 1-1. Game three we would see the teams go to Gun Runner for domination, and the first half saw both teams fighting for the B flag for the majority of the game and Full Sail finished the half up 109-96. In the second half, Full Sail came out strong and ended up winning 210-197 and taking a 2-1 series lead. With Full Sail on match point, the teams met for hardpoint on Gun Runner and like game one, Full Sail took a commanding lead in the beginning and were able to score 81 points before Liberty Navy even got a point, and got to 127 before Liberty Navy got double digits. Full Sail kept their foot on the pedal and won the game 250-70 behind Pryzaam going 37-20 and Full Sail won the series 3-1. While that game was going on, other games that finished included Alabama beating York 3-0, Ole Miss Red beating Penn State White 3-2, Georgia Southern beating Shawnee State 3-0, Louisiana Lafayette beating Miami (Ohio) 3-0, Mississippi State beating St. Clair 3-0, Rutgers Scarlet beating Penn State Blue 3-1, RIT beating Concord Gray 3-0, Illini Orange beating Grossmont 3-0, Concord Maroon beating Arkansas 3-0, and Grand Valley State beating Northern Iowa 3-1. Round Two Match: Oklahoma State vs. Alabama The next match on stream was Oklahoma State (Cupid, Decruel, Cash, Ginga, and Orion) versus Alabama (Hancho, JRaydiate, Nix, Rosu, and Conn. Oklahoma State won the first round but Alabama then won four straight rounds before allowing Oklahoma State to win another round. Oklahoma State brought it back to being close but lost the game 6-4 and Alabama took a 2-0 series lead. Oklahoma State needed to win the next game to force a game four, but first had to focus on game three on Hackney Yard. The first minute of the game was close, but then Hancho took off and went on a ten kill streak and it helped Alabama take a nice lead. The second half again was very close, but Louisiana Lafayette pulled through and won 212-197 to force a game four on Rammaza. Semifinal Match Two: Rutgers Scarlet vs. Concord Maroon Rutgers Scarlet (Protocol, Lou, RekLess, wendyzgod, and Yodi) and Concord Maroon now knew that the winner of their game would face off against Louisiana Lafayette in the finals, but first, they had to get through the semi final. Game one was on Hackney Yard and Concord Maroon looked good throughout the entire game and ended up winning 250-120 with Paraylxsis going 36-15. The next map was search and destroy on Rammaza and Rutgers Scarlet went up 5-0 early and only needed one more round to win, but Concord Maroon won six straight rounds to win the game and go up 2-0 in the series. Game three was domination on Gun Runner and Rutgers Scarlet came out strong in the first half and were up 109-100 heading into the second half.
