Match One: Georgia Southern vs. Full Sail Armada The first game of the series was Hackney Yard hardpoint, and GSU started off really well, and were up 217-84 and it looked like Full Sail had yet to turn their monitors on. Full Sail finally woke up and started fighting back, but it was too little too late as Georgia Southern won the map 250-174. The second map was search and destroy on Arklov Peak, where both teams traded their first rounds, but then Georgia Southern went on a tear and won the next five rounds to win 6-1. The third map of the series saw the teams playing domination on Gun Runner. Full Sail did a great job on controlling both the B flag and a home flag, and finished the first half up 108-80. The second half was much of the same, and saw Full Sail win 198-169 to force a game four. The game four was then hardpoint on Ahzir Cave, and Full Sail needed to win it to force a game five. It was looking a lot like game one, as Georgia Southern was up throughout the entirety of the game, but it all came down to the very last hill, where Full Sail was up 234-223 as it switched to the point. Georgia Southern had early control and fought off Full Sail’s first wave, but Full Sail came back much harder the next wave and was able to get Georgia Southern off the hill. They were then able to fight off Georgia Southern’s push and win the game 250-239 to force a game five, which was search and destroy on Gun Runner. The teams started by trading two offensive round wins a piece, and then Full Sail finally won a defense and then an offensive round again to go up 4-2. Georgia Southern was done messing around, and won the next four rounds to win 6-4 and close out the series 3-2. Match Two: Bowling Green vs. Purdue After the excitement that was match one, match two started with hardpoint on Hackney Yard. Purdue did a great job at holding the money hills (hills that are easier to hold more time on) and it helped them win the game 250-181. Game two was then search and destroy on St. Petrograd. Bowling Green just looked like the better team the whole game, and won 6-0 to tie the series 1-1. Game three was then Hackney Yard domination, and Bowling Green controlled the map well the entire first half, and ended it up 99-79. The second half was completely different and saw Purdue win 191-164 and take a 2-1 series lead. The fourth map was hardpoint on Gun Runner and it was a great game. Purdue ultimately came out victorious though winning 250-210 and winning the series 3-1.
