CCL FEBRUARY UPDATE

01.29.2020 // By: Marco -

Hey everyone! We know we’ve been quiet for a bit, but here’s a VERY long list of patch notes, updated changes, and things to expect this upcoming month. Volunteer Staff Positions ---------- The CCL has one of the most active communities in esports. Current and previous players continue to find ways to get involved. The amount of content being produced by clubs and individuals surrounding the league this year is insane and extremely fun to sift through. As a management team, we’ve decided to open up webdev positions (in addition to the already open journalist positions). Also, for the first time, these unique positions are also open to players! If you are interested in applying for either position, please reach out to the management team over Discord or through the contact tab on the website. Website Stuff ---------- We’re aware of a previous bug that did not allow users to validate accounts on the website. If you are unable to change information about your account or still have not been validated into the website, please reach out through the contact tab on the website! The website will continue to be updated as time progresses. If you have a website related suggestions, come across any errors, or are even curious about helping develop the site, feel free to reach out through the contact tab or join the CCL Discord and put the idea in suggestions! Current website updates: - Standings, team pages, and player data are all accessible. The current player data and standings information is in the process of being updated to be correctly resembled through the website. - (Staff Team unfortunately does not have a team page. We don’t want folks to realize we are the true #1 team ;) )” *Expected update on 2/2/2020: - Submitting stats through the website instead of to stats team members in Discord - End of the week “Update Cycles” • Expect player stats to refresh on the website sometime on Sundays. - Scheduled games appear through the website Note: Captains should still communicate with each other through Discord and decide on an agreed upon time for games. Scheduling itself will remain the same way, but as a captain you will be able to see who you play during the current week on the website. Website Bugs: - 1/10/2020 - 1/20/2020 Profile Bug • Validation Tokens would not allow new members to log in - 1/27/2020 Visuals Bugs • This recent update is known to have some visual bugs we’ll be working to patch as soon as possible, but there should now be functionality to view teams and record! - 1/29/2020 Database Bugs • Standings and player data do not update properly. • *A fix for this has been found and we ask that captains work with us to help input things correctly. Expect an internal announcement to team captains through Discord surrounding this fix before the end of the week. Upcoming Projects: - Fixing visual bugs - Making “Brand Resources” its own tab (currently hard to navigate to in the info tab) - Updating what’s visually shown for player profile accounts on the website - Fixing team pages that give errors - Uploading downloadable schedule graphics - Updating the league page with correct information about the season - Small visual updates to various web pages Rankings ------- A hot topic in the CCL and always a fun one. Let's talk power rankings for a second. First off, we’re going to treat power rankings more like an “AP Poll”. This disclaimer will be on power rankings every week. We will be letting members from league ops, stats, management, journalists, SnD Media, casters, and team captains provide polls on who they believe their top 25 are. In the long term, the goal is to eventually build out a system in which we can invite coaches, more sources covering CCL games (such as SnD Media), etc., and ask for their rankings, similar to other college sports. We do not discourage others from releasing their own rankings over Twitter, Discord, etc. but ask that they be labeled “[Your Name / Your Company]'s CCL Power Rankings.” As a community, it’s always fun to follow and listen to others' thoughts about how teams stack up. Content and Streams! ------- The CCL will be resuming it’s normal stream schedule of Tuesday and Thursday. Also, we’ve read suggestions about Fight Night and having more days to stream games. Expect futures updates surrounding this over the next two weeks. Players, if you have clips from the week during games, feel free to submit any top plays to the CCL2020 Discord hub provided to you all. The more you submit, the more content there will be this year!
