CCL 2020 DIVISION ANALYSIS

01.18.2020 // By: Vixento -

With the start of our 2020 season nearly upon us, it is finally time to see the divisions for the upcoming year. As a new year of the CCL begins, we welcome many new faces to the competition, as well as welcoming back many who have been here once before. With a total of twenty one teams returning from last year, we welcome over fifty new ones to our ranks. This year's competition promises to be bigger, better, and tougher than ever before. Humber, our first place finisher last season, are back, and they are ready to defend their title. I had a chance to talk with one of the returning players from last season on this first place squad, he mentioned that he doesn’t really feel a strong need to play any specific teams, he just wants good matches, but he is still confident in his squad, and they definitely want to defend their title. Other returning schools include Florida State, Cornell, Utah, Ohio State, and of course our runners up from last year, Ole Miss. After talking to the coach, and past player of Ole Miss it is clear that they have moved on from last years defeat against Humber, and they are rearing and ready to kick off a new season. He is looking forward to the coming season and says “I think our end goal is a championship. We don’t care who we have to face to do it”. Lastly, he mentioned how he feels like a veteran in the scene after playing in the previous season, and he is excited to see what all these new teams can bring to the table. Among the new schools to join our ranks we have Alabama, Full Sail, Penn State, UT-Dallas, and Purdue. I had a chance to talk with the captain for UT-Dallas and get some of his thoughts on this upcoming season. I asked him if there were any specific teams that he was looking forward to competing against this year, he mentioned how a strong rivalry has grown between his school and UT schools. However, if he wants to be crowned the best team in Texas, he will also have great opponents in the Texas A&M teams joining us this season. He also mentioned how he was excited to get in on the Collegiate Call of Duty action as he had seen the great content produced from the CCL staff last year, and was excited to see what was going to come next. All of us here at the CCL are excited to see what great action we get to catch this season. Teams from across North America have put their hats in the ring to see who will come out as the CCL champions, for now only time will tell. Soon these teams made up of friends, students, and Call of Duty players, will be pitted against each other in the pinnacle of Collegiate Call of Duty to see who will be crowned our CCL 2020 Champions.
